The FWD Gold Medal Awards celebrate talent across the foodservice sector. Held at Old Billingsgate, the night paid tribute to the 750 wholesalers, suppliers and retailers that came together to observe the brands, products and innovations that have supported the wholesale channel over the past year. Wholesalers, including Booker, Bestway, Bidfood, Brakes, Landmark Wholesale and Today’s Group, voted for the nominees and winners for the FWD Gold Medal Awards. With strong competition from Nescafé, Nestlé Professional, Knorr and Unilever Food Solutions, Tetley is thrilled to have been awarded the Gold Medal for Foodservice Brand 2017.
Marshall Kingston, Senior Brand Manager comments; “To end 2017 having been recognised for such a prestigious award is a fantastic achievement for the Tetley brand. A key part of our work is making sure we provide support to our customers. Being commended by direct wholesale customers and named as industry winner at the FWD’s Gold Medal Awards is a real honour.”
Tetley’s second win of the season took place at The Caterer Product Excellence Awards. The Product Excellence Awards recognise products that are innovative, creative, sustainable, well-designed, offer the best user experience – and of course – taste great. The evening of celebrations took place at The In & Out Club in London, and recognised rising expectations in the market and the strong competition that exists between operators. Tetley had two blends shortlisted in the Tea and Hot Chocolate category, English Breakfast and Camomile, which were up against Country Range’s 100% Rainforest Alliance Certified Premium Blend One Cup tea bags. With hundreds of food and drink products tested by chefs and specialists, including Christopher Basten, vice-president of the Craft Guild of Chefs, Neel Radia, chairman of the National Association of Care Catering and Damian Wawrzyniak, chef and restaurateur, Tetley is extremely proud to have won the Tea and Hot Chocolate category with its Tetley English Breakfast blend. The judges described the winning blend as a “proper cup of tea that really hits the spot with a pleasant flavour”, and also complimented the brewed colour and taste of the tea.
Marshall Kingston, Senior Brand Manager comments; “A record number of products were entered into to The Caterer Product Excellence Award this year, and we were up against some stiff competition! We’re thrilled to have won the Tea and Hot Chocolate category and for Tetley’s English Breakfast blend to have been recognised for it’s great taste and flavour”.
