Tetley recently sponsored the inaugural National Breakfast Awards, hosted by H2O Publishing on the 30th January at Westminster Kingsway College. Celebrating the growth of the breakfast and brunch occasion, 14 chefs battled it out in Smoothie of the Year, Breakfast Chef of the Year and National Breakfast of the Year categories. As the tea category sponsor, Tetley instructed chefs to pair their entries for the Breakfast Chef of the Year heat with a Tetley blend that best suited their dishes.
After an action-packed day, the results were announced later that evening at the networking session, where guests indulged in a variety of breakfast-inspired bowl food, including scrumptious granola and Tetley green tea yogurt.
Steve Bell from the Yellow Bicycle Café in Blandform Forum was crowned winner of the Breakfast Chef of the Year category. His winning technical dish comprised of chorizo on homemade eggy bread, topped with kale and finished with a drizzle of hollandaise sauce and was perfectly paired with Tetley Green Tea.
Commenting on choosing the perfect Tetley blend to suit his dish, Steve explained: “pairing my technical dish with a green tea was an easy choice. The Tetley Green Tea provided a clean, refreshing and robust taste that didn’t get lost alongside the flavours of the chorizo, egg and hollandaise.”
